LOVE BOMBS.
Whats a bomb? Well dear fellow, READ THIS IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A BOMB IS
cuestagaming.freeforums.net/thread/96/short-guide-drafting Here i will be explaining our plan for Friday, or rather our CONSPIRACY for Friday.
My name is Ryan and I'll be your "head judge" for this event. Here's an FAQ of what you need to know.
Whats the plan?Eight of us Cuesta gamers will be getting together this Friday for a draft. We will be drafting conspiracy, with a box owned by the club. All cards drafted will be saved and sleeved for future drafts ("Cube Drafts").
Okay, well what exactly is conspiracy?Conspiracy is a stand alone magic set designed for drafting. The set is filled with new mechanics (To be further explained below), and classic (powerful) spells from Magic history. It provides a unique experience that cannot quite be captured by anything else.
That sounds great, how can I get involved?Sign up at the club meeting this Wednesday to confirm your slot.
I'm a college student with limited funds, what will this cost me?\
On average it costs each of approx. 0.00 USD with a margin of error of 0. The only thing it will cost is your time thanks to our based club funds paying for the box and a GENEROUS donation of card sleeves from your lord and Savior James Chu.
What do I need to bring?A note: EVERYTHING IS OPTIONAL. I (Ryan) will be supplying us with dice, two mats, and other magic essentials to anybody without. I have a limited supply, so if you CAN bring the following PLEASE do.
EDIT: If you want to donate basic land to the cause, it will be appreciated. Alternatively you can bring your own and just use that.
1. Dice! MTG is a game filled with counters and other things that become hassles without dice.
2. A playmat. Remember, the cards are club property and its important that we keep them as near mint as possible. They will be sleeved, but playing on a naked table will be awful. As I said before, I will be bringing two mats that I don't use often for use during the draft.
What NOT to bring:-Salt
-Post-it Notes ( Will be bringing them for some conspiracy stuff)
-Sleeves
Now for your
Conspiracy Primer.
Conspiracy is a multi-player format. After the draft consisting of an 8 person "pod" we will be randomly separated into two groups of four. The winner of each of these groups are the Club Champions until next time. The format is unusual, bu mosLOVE BOMBS.
Whats a bomb? Well dear fellow, I'll be writing up a short guide to drafting in another post. I suggest reading that if you have no clue what drafing is, or limited drafting experience. Here will be explaining our plan for Friday, or rather our CONSPIRACY for Friday.

The game consists of two tables of free-for-all four player madness. We will be playing it at a Rules Enforcement Level of FNM. That may be higher than you're used to at Cuesta, so be prepared.

Now for your
Conspiracy Primer:
We will draft as an 8-man "pod" (If you don't know what that means, go read my draft primer here: ). Afterwards we will randomly separate into two groups of four players. The winner of each four player game is our Club Champions, until next time when we kick them to the curb
. One last note: SLEEVE THE CARDS WHEN YOU BUILD YOUR DECK. Please, for the sake of us all sleeve your cards. Sleeves will be provided.
The Mechanics tend to average at a higher complexity (as does most of the set) than you'll see in expert expansions. This is due to the odd mix of them involved. Here's a quick rundown of the conspiracy EXCLUSIVE mechancis:
Will of the Council: Starting with you, each player votes for two or more options. Each one is usually beneficial to the caster on either option. Politics will be key in decided which way each vote will go, so choose allies carefully. If the votes are tied, the card will state the result. Example: Magistrate of Worth. Each player votes for Grace or Condemnation. If Grace wins, each player puts all creatures from the graveyard into play. If Condemnation wins OR the vote is tied, destroy all creatures.
Parley: Each player reveals the top card of their library and then draws it. The caster of the spell with Parley will get a bonus effect based on what each player reveals (Gain life for each land, get a creature for each nonland, etc, etc).
Dethrone: Whenever a creature with Dethrone attacks the player with the highest, or tied for highest, life total put a +1/+1 counter on it. Yes, that is a permanent counter.
CONSPIRACY:
This may be the thing that causes us trouble. So you draft Conspiracy's like any normal card (Pick it from the pack, pass the pack, etc). But they do not go in your deck. Instead choose any number of them to start the game in your Command Zone. They remain their permanently and will give you effects such as always going first.
Hidden Agenda: A type of conspiracy. You do not reveal these at the start of the game like normal conspiracies. Instead, put a post it note on the card and play it face-down. Anytime you have priority you may flip a hidden agenda face-up. These will generally give you effects specific to what you put down on the post-it. Some ask you to name a creature and then give that creature a +1/+1 counter, others make spells cost 1 less, etc.
Draft Effecting Cards:
There will be a variety of cards that effect the draft. One includes adding extra boosters to the draft, and for this purpose I will be bringing some packs to donate to the club and add in to the madness. Read each card you draft carefully, as there are many cards which are drafted face-up or can be flipped face-up in the middle of the draft for their effect. During the draft priority does not exist, so we have to just be reasonable about the order of effects and if we cannot decide the rules (905.2a) we take them in a random order.
